Chelsea could change stance on “dynamic” £75 million star as PSG eye transfer opportunity

Chelsea have built their squad around a combination of established performers and promising young talent, but difficult decisions could lie ahead as the club continue to shape their long-term plans under Xabi Alonso.

The Blues have several versatile players capable of filling multiple roles, although their financial demands and squad-building strategy could leave the door open for departures.

One defender who was previously considered difficult to prise away from Stamford Bridge may now be available if the right offer arrives.

Chelsea Could Reconsider Malo Gusto Transfer Stance

According to SkySport.ch, Chelsea are prepared to reconsider their stance on Malo Gusto, potentially handing Paris Saint-Germain a boost in their pursuit of the French defender.

The Blues reportedly demanded around £75 million for Gusto during the summer transfer window, a valuation that discouraged interested clubs from making a move. However, their position is said to have softened, with Chelsea now willing to listen to offers that better reflect his market value.

PSG remain interested in the 23-year-old as they look to strengthen their defensive options and provide cover for Achraf Hakimi. Gusto’s ability to operate as a conventional right-back, push forward as a wing-back and cover other positions makes him an attractive option for the French champions.

The defender’s versatility has also been recognised by former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, who praised his “dynamic” qualities. That adaptability has helped Gusto establish himself as a useful member of the Blues’ squad.

However, allowing him to leave would represent a significant decision for Chelsea. Gusto remains an important option, particularly given Reece James’ injury history and the demands of competing across multiple competitions.

The Frenchman is also contracted until 2030, meaning Chelsea are under no immediate pressure to sell and retain considerable control over his future.

While a lower asking price could encourage PSG to return with a serious proposal, the Blues would need to consider the cost of finding a suitable replacement. Losing a player capable of covering several positions could create fresh problems for Alonso, especially if injuries affect his defensive options.

For now, Chelsea’s willingness to negotiate does not guarantee a departure. Much will depend on the size of PSG’s offer and whether the club believe the funds could be reinvested more effectively elsewhere.

Nevertheless, the reported change in stance suggests Gusto may no longer be entirely untouchable at Stamford Bridge, giving PSG a potential opening ahead of future transfer windows.
