Jack Rodwell has finally ended his four-year spell at the Stadium of Light, to the delight of everyone associated with the football club. The 27-year-old midfielder started out as a very promising young Englishman in his Everton days, playing for the club’s senior side for four years between 2008 and 2012. However, he then left for the money and swapped Goodison for The Etihad back in 2012, a move which looks to have ruined his career.
Rodwell will now have to look for a move to a club that will be happy to take him and that will be harder to do than it sounds. The defensive midfielder will be lucky if any English club will touch him with a barge pole and a move to America to play in the MLS is much more likely for the former Manchester City man. Whatever the future holds for Rodwell, those in the Northeast are just delighted his future is away from Sunderland.
