Bolton Wanderers are far from out of the woods right now and though they are now in positive figures for points scored this season, the controversy is not going away any time soon.
The Trotters received a 12 point deduction for the start of this season thanks to financial issues and as their squad got thinner and thinner, they had to postpone games as they could not fulfil the fixtures.
Now, the Trotters are looking healthier financially and have a squad that can earn results, but a cloud hangs over them in terms of those postponed fixtures.
It had been ruled a suspended points deduction would be their punishment – in essence they could avoid further points losses – but the EFL have decided to appeal that ruling.
Bolton have since released a statement of their own in reaction to that and posted this on Twitter earlier today:
📰 Club Statement. The Club is aware of the EFL’s decision to appeal the verdict that was reached by the Independent Disciplinary Commission.
Chairman Sharon Brittan said: “We will vehemently defend any appeal.”
