The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have a very strange relationship with their young striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serbian striker scored a hat-trick against Bolivia to ensure his side would be going into their first group game against Costa Rica on a high note, leading to our local Magpies all calling for the striker to be given another chance on Tyneside. It’s been a long time since a player has divided opinion in a fan base quite like Mitrovic has with the Newcastle fans. The Serbian hitman has got a bright future ahead of him for sure. At the age of just 23, it’s fair to say that the Serbian striker could be one of Europe’s top strikers if he applies himself in the right way under the right coach, however, we’re yet to see that as the hot-headed forward has a nasty disciplinary record as well as a hot scoring streak.
The Newcastle fans would have been surprised to see their man loaned out in January, however, the move worked out for all parties as the St James Park faithful saw their side go on a four-game winning run that propelled them into the top-half of the Premier League, whilst Fulham maximised Mitrovic’s time at Craven Cottage, going on to win the play-off final at Wembley and secure promotion with the help of the Serbian’s goals.

Mitrovic’s record in front of goal is enough to turn any manager’s head, although given the problems that he’s had in the past with Rafa Benitez, it wouldn’t be a shock to see him sold this summer, despite the fans opinions.
