Buck looking to resolve Joe Cole’s contract sooner rather than later

The chances of Joe Cole leaving Chelsea have been slashed as Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has vowed to sort out his situation.

Having played a key part in Chelsea’s 7-2 thumping of Sunderland, Chelsea will step up their efforts to sort Cole’s contract sooner rather than later according to The Daily Express.

Cole’s deal at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in the summer and he had been linked with a move to Arsenal, Man United and Man City as talks stalled between both parties but Buck would prefer to keep him at Stamford Bridge, saying,

“I am personally a big fan of Joe Cole and we are in discussions with his agent and hopefully that will be sorted out soon,”

Cole is looking to solidify his place not only in the England squad but also with Chelsea, where manager Carlo Ancelotti was quoted as saying that Deco was a better option than the Londoner, and performances like the one he put in on Saturday should do him no harm.

Chelsea have a potential transfer ban coming into play in the near future and it would be a massive blow to the west London outfit to lose a player of Joe Cole’s quality and not be able to replace him.
