Of course, Mourinho is well within his right to do so, given that Rooney has seriously struggled when he has played this season, but for a player of his quality – he doesn’t deserve to be sitting on the bench.

It came as no surprise, then, to see reports linking him with a Man Utd departure – and our landlord thinks that the time might just be right for him to depart Old Trafford.

Lack Of Game Time

This is a very simple reason.

At present, Wayne Rooney simply isn’t getting enough game time.

He is one of Europe’s best on his day, and given that he isn’t getting any younger, he surely wants to be playing every week.

Rooney could be a regular for most of the sides in Europe, and it doesn’t make sense for him to be sitting on the bench every week.

For much of his career, Wayne Rooney has held a reputation as one of the deadliest finishers in Europe.

For over a decade, Rooney has been the poster boy of English football, and in a matter of months – he has seen that reputation fall into disrepair.

The longer he stays at Man Utd the worse that reputation is going to get, and he simply must move away if he wants to be remembered as fondly as he deserves to be.

He doesn’t want to be known as the bit-part Man Utd player, he wants to retire with everyone well aware of his proficiency.
