Carew set for January exit from Villa Park?

CarewAston Villa striker John Carew could be set to shock the Midlands club with a January exit from Villa Park.

Carew is a January target for Turkish giants Fenerbahce, who are looking to bolster their strike force with proven European talent. The Norwegian has a high reputation in Turkey after his successful spell with Besiktas in 2004.

The transfer presents a dilemma for both Carew himself and manager Martin O’Neill. Carew is 30 and has just 18 months left on his current contract. At that age it is unlikely that O’Neill will offer the striker another deal so a move to Turkey could present a final pay day for the wandering Norwegian.

Fenerbahce are said to be looking at a fee of around £5 million, which could tempt the Midlands club, who will be keen to recoup funds after several high profile summer transfers. Yet it will be a task for O’Neill to replace Carew, who has become a firm fan favourite at Villa Park.

I am an avid Chelsea fan, yet can appreciate good football from any club. I have an opinion on most things football. Favourite players have to be Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Petr Cech and Iker Casillas
