Last night saw the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern bid farewell to their first Champions League campaign for two years as the Hoops drew 1-1 with Manchester City.
While, clearly, they’d have liked to progress into the next round, the Bhoys have their heads held high.
Despite being thumped 7-0 by Barcelona, the SPFL titans otherwise performed well in a difficult group that also contained Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The Parkhead faithful propping up the bar are excited by the notion of Brendan Rodgers conducting a long-term project in green and white and reports from the Daily Record have them dancing on the pool tables.
They’ve revealed Celtic banked £27.5m during their continental campaign, before taking into account gate receipts and some TV money.
That sort of figure could reportedly rise to a whopping £34m, giving the Scottish champions a wonderful platform from which to grow going forward.
Rodgers has made a huge impact already and the notion of having even more money to spend, as well as respect in Europe, has the fans in the Tavern hugely excited for the years ahead.
