The last week has been an interesting one for fans of Celtic and Aston Villa. After Steve Bruce was sacked last Wednesday, Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers was linked with the vacant Villa Park job. However, as most Celtic fans would have told you, Rodgers went nowhere and the Villains appointed Dean Smith, leading to a lot of Celtic fans slating The Daily Record for speculating over Rodgers exit.

Rodgers was one of the names that a lot of bookies and the media were throwing about in relation to the Villa job, despite the fact that the Northern Irishman himself said after the St Johnstone thumping on Sunday that he hadn’t been contacted by Villa and that he was happy at Parkhead. As far as The Hoops are concerned it was just another story from The Daily Record and the Scottish media to try and rid Celtic of Rodgers.
The former Liverpool man had been a rip-roaring success in Glasgow, helping The Bhoys to Scottish football’s first ever double-treble. This season has started shakily under Rodgers but that’s nothing to worry about and after Sunday’s 6-0 win at McDiarmid Park, the supporters are convinced that their season starts here and they’ll be winning yet another Scottish Premier League title come May.
You can read the Bhoys’ verdict on The Daily Record here:
Everyone knew Brendan wasn't going to Villa. Yet you ran with it. Why? Examine this, and you might just half the slide in your circulation. Which right now needs warfarin.

The speculation ended when he said he was going nowhere. There’s no point in him even answering any questions. You just disregard what he says anyway.
