Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell believes that Celtic star Odsonne Edouard will leave Parkhead to sign for Arsenal.
Edouard to the Emirates?
In 137 appearances, Edouard has scored 66 times and provided 32 assists in over 9,000 minutes of play, and Celtic have held talks with the Frenchman about a new long-term contract, with his current deal due to expire in 2022 (TransferMarkt).
The France U21 international is a hugely respected individual in the Celtic dressing room, with manager Neil Lennon describing him as “talismanic” (cited by the Daily Record).
Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell, who used to play for Arsenal, believes that Edouard will be the ideal replacement for striker Alexandre Lacazette.
“They have been utilising Aubameyang from the left and Lacazette is the one that Edouard could come in for”, he said.
“Lacazette is the wrong side of 30 now. That move may still happen because Edouard is a really talented player.
“He is a natural goalscorer who is very cute around the box. A player that would be a great addition to anybody but for now he is at a huge club in Celtic.
“He is the top man there and I see him staying there at least until next summer. If Celtic get 10 they might move and shake a little bit.”
Transfer Tavern take
It will be a huge blow for Celtic if they were to lose their key talisman.
Despite the recent criticism he received from ‘Big Yogi’ John Hughes, Edouard brings a lot of attacking prowess to the Hoops and has played a huge part in helping them reach nine-in-a-row.
If they are to make it 10, the Edouard simply has to stay at Celtic Park and be allowed to be given the opportunity to turn his recent form around.
