Delighted about their start to the campaign, the Celtic fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been dancing on the pool tables for pretty much the entire season thus far. 

The Hoops remain unbeaten domestically and Brendan Rodgers has lit the fires of optimism again at Parkhead, turning a previously stagnant side under Ronny Deila into a barn-stormingly entertaining one.

Signings such as Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair have helped on that front, while the Northern Irishman’s work in getting the best out of talents such as Stuart Armstrong has been a major part of his success so far.

Still, we are currently entrenched in the murky waters of the January transfer window and silly season is upon us, meaning no one is safe from rumours and reports.

So, with that in mind, here are TWO players Celtic would be absolutely stupid to axe this month.

The Israeli midfielder has been a big part of the Bhoys’ midfield for a number of seasons now, though has recently been linked with a move away from Celtic Park.

While Rodgers’ reign in Glasgow going forward is always likely to put much more of an emphasis on ball retention from holding midfield, the 25-year-old is a useful option to have in tough Champions League games as he moves to break up play.

Moussa Dembele

Obviously, it would take a huge bid to tempt Celtic into selling star striker Moussa Dembele so soon into his career for the SPFL giants.

Still, the desperation that can be shown by potential buyers (cough, West Ham, cough) towards the end of the window always leaves the possibility of such an event occurring.

The Bhoys would be stupid to allow the Frenchman to leave just six months after they landed him and any attempts to lure him away from Glasgow should be snubbed right away.
