Celtic’s £10M Pricetag To Premiership Chancers Reflects Player Value & Decency To The Cause

According to a local Lancashire newspaper, English Premier League sides Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers are interested in signing Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal.

Reports from down south are suggesting both clubs have been making enquiries about Kayal and are looking to come in with bids at around £4 Million.

Now retired Villa boss Gerard Houllier saw Kayal as the ideal man to play along side Jean Makoun in the centre of the Villians midfield with Stillian Petrov looking to be heading out the door and Nigel Reo-Coker being out of contract.

Now Bolton boss Owen Coyle has become interested in bringing the Israeli midfield anchorman to the Reebok stadium hoping he can help them push for another top ten position next season.

Celtic though are very reluctant to sell and have slapped a minimum of £10 million price tag on their star man’s head hoping to deter any prospective buyers.

Kayal, who is out injured at the moment with a fractured wrist suffered in the 3-2 SPL title deciding defeat at Inverness,  Still needs at least six weeks rehabilitation and it could be a couple of months before he is fully fit and ready for action.  The player himself has expressed his desire to stay at Parkhead next season and push Rangers for the title.

After being interviewed by fans magazine The Celtic View Kayal said,

” I am aware of all the talk surrounding me.  Many agents have tried to speak to me but I don’t want to deal with any of them. It is not easy to settle in abroad.

I want to stay here, I am enjoying the club, enjoying the people, Enjoying the players and fans and I am enjoying Glasgow.  I have a contract here for four years, I also want to stay because I have more to prove to the manager and the fans.”

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has no intention of selling the man he bought for £1.5 million from Israeli club Maccabi Haifa last year and this deal looks to be a non- starter.

However there had been reports of an interest from Sir Alex Ferguson at Man United and with him losing Paul Scholes in the heart of his midfield and Ryan Giggs maybe soon to follow.

Sir Alex may want to test Celtic’s resolve and spend some of the reported £170 million he has been promised by the Glazer Brother’s.
