The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t too concerned about the Carabao Cup this season…
Though they’re the current holders of the trophy, attention has been diverted to far higher prizes this term.
With a Premier League title challenge on the horizon and the possibility of a decent Champions League run also still possible – Man Utd have a lot on their plate to deal with.
Indeed, that could mean that Jose Mourinho places less significance on the competition, and so a few fringe players could be given their chance to shine.
That has its benefits, though, as if they impress, the players could be given a chance in more important competitions too down the road.
With that said, Mourinho should give these 2 talented players a chance vs Burton…
Ashley Young

Ashley Young looked good when he featured in the Champions League, and he should be given another chance in the cup.
He’s got so much experience, and his versatility will allow Mourinho to fit him in where possible.
A reliable member of the squad, the Portuguese manager can feel safe knowing that the midfielder is going to put in a good performance. Another good showing could give the boss something to think about.
Michael Carrick

This season has seen Michael Carrick’s role become more of a behind the scenes one, with his opportunities limited so far.
He’ll impress when called upon, though, as he always has.
It’s likely that he’s in his last year with the Red Devils, and so he’ll want to end it with a few trophies. That’ll make him motivated to win the Carabao Cup, and so a good performance is likely to follow if selected.
