Chelsea’s spending spree last summer was nothing short of remarkable, with over £280 million invested in fresh talent.
Big-money arrivals such as Liam Delap, João Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato were brought in to reshape the squad, and while some have impressed, others have found life at Stamford Bridge far more difficult.
With performances inconsistent and another rebuild looming, the club appear ready to make quick decisions on those who haven’t delivered — even if it means cutting ties early.
Chelsea Open to Garnacho Sale
Chelsea are reportedly willing to offload Alejandro Garnacho this summer, less than a year after signing him from Manchester United in a deal worth around £40 million, according to The Sun.
The 21-year-old winger has struggled to establish himself in West London, particularly since Liam Rosenior’s arrival in January. The current head coach is believed to have reservations about Garnacho, having not been involved in the decision to bring him to the club.
That lack of backing has been reflected in his minutes, with the Argentine making just four Premier League starts under Rosenior. His overall output has also raised concerns, managing only one league goal across 21 appearances — a return that has done little to strengthen his case.
Interest in Garnacho is already emerging, with River Plate among the clubs linked with a potential move. However, it remains to be seen whether the player would be willing to leave European football at this stage of his career.
Chelsea’s stance suggests they are open to offers as they look to refine their squad once again, prioritising players who better fit Rosenior’s system and long-term vision.
Garnacho’s Chelsea chapter may be far shorter than anyone expected. In a squad undergoing constant evolution, there’s little room for patience — and unless he can quickly change perceptions, he risks becoming one of the first casualties of the club’s next reset.
