Chelsea’s attacking department has become increasingly crowded this summer, with Xabi Alonso now having a wealth of options to work with.
Joao Pedro, who scored within just 31 seconds against Fulham on Monday night, will lead the line, while Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck have arrived, Nicolas Jackson is back after his loan spell at Bayern Munich, and Liam Delap remains another option.
Youngster Marc Guiu and academy product Shim Mheuka, meanwhile, have found opportunities harder to come by.
With Chelsea still looking to reduce the size of their squad before the transfer window closes, one of their young forwards now appears increasingly likely to move on.
Guiu Closing in on Chelsea Exit
Marc Guiu is edging closer to leaving Chelsea, with Napoli among several clubs exploring a move for the young striker, according to the Evening Standard.
The 20-year-old is currently considering three potential destinations, with interest coming from Italy, Spain and Germany. A permanent transfer and a loan are both possibilities as Chelsea assess the best solution for the forward.
Napoli are particularly keen on taking Guiu permanently and have already shown their willingness to do business with Chelsea, having agreed a loan for defender Benoit Badiashile. The Italian champions have also looked at Nicolas Jackson, although his £65 million valuation has made that move considerably more difficult.
Guiu arrived at Stamford Bridge from Barcelona for around £5 million in 2024 and made 16 appearances last season, scoring three times. However, regular first-team football has proved difficult to secure, and his current valuation is believed to be around £25 million.
The striker has now fallen outside Alonso’s immediate plans and was not allocated a squad number ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League opener.
With the Blues eager to bring their bloated squad under control, Guiu is one of several forwards who could depart before the deadline.
Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has previously labelled the youngster “unbelievable”, highlighting the level of potential still believed to be within the young forward.
