Chelsea’s inconsistent start to the season has raised questions about whether their squad has the right balance to compete consistently at the highest level.
Despite significant investment in young talent, the Blues are still looking for ways to strengthen their options, with midfield potentially offering an opportunity to add more athleticism and versatility.
The Stamford Bridge hierarchy are continuing to monitor emerging talent across Europe, and one name has reportedly caught their attention in Italy.
However, Chelsea could face competition from Arsenal and two European heavyweights if they decide to pursue a deal.
Chelsea Monitoring Inter Milan Star Andy Diouf
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are closely monitoring Inter Milan midfielder Andy Diouf, with Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain also tracking the 23-year-old’s progress.
The Frenchman joined Inter from Lens in August 2025 and has continued to build his reputation through his performances in Italy. His recent displays for France have also helped attract attention, putting several leading clubs on alert.
Diouf is understood to be valued at around £25 million, although Inter are reportedly in no rush to part ways with the midfielder. With his contract running until June 2030, the Serie A side are in a strong negotiating position and could demand between £42m and £51m to consider a sale.
For Chelsea, Diouf’s versatility could make him an appealing addition. The midfielder can operate centrally and has also demonstrated his ability to play as a wing-back or full-back, offering tactical flexibility that could prove useful across a demanding campaign.
His athleticism and ability to carry the ball through midfield would provide another dimension to Chelsea’s options. The Blues have continued to focus on recruiting young players with room to develop, and Diouf fits that profile while already gaining experience at a major European club.
Inter, however, have little incentive to sanction a departure in the middle of the season. The Italian side view the midfielder as a player with significant potential, meaning Chelsea may have to wait before testing their resolve.
Arsenal’s interest could complicate matters further, particularly if both Premier League clubs decide to turn their scouting into formal approaches. Barcelona and PSG are also monitoring the situation, potentially creating competition for his signature.
For now, Chelsea’s interest appears to remain at the monitoring stage rather than representing an imminent transfer. Nevertheless, Diouf is one to watch as the Blues assess potential midfield reinforcements for future windows.
