The Sun has reported today how Chelsea captain John Terry and Southampton skipper Jose Fonte took their respective partners out to the cinema recently, leaving many in the Transfer Tavern feeling loved up!
One pair of Chelsea fans by the bar, who have been married for five years, were speaking to our landlord when they saw the news said: “We’ve been going to the cinema nearly every week since we first met and it’s nice to see our captain do just the same too!”
The report says the Chelsea legend watched the film The Girl on the Train, a topic of great discussion right now here in the Transfer Tavern as many punters have been clambering to see it.
Southampton man, Fonte, meanwhile, had a photo uploaded of him by his wife as he munched through a bag of popcorn, leaving some Saints fans here by the jukebox thinking that they too could eat like a footballer.
Our landlord has been inspired by the recent activities of two of his favourite Premier League players, too and has decided that if the locals come up to the bar with a cinema ticket, then they can half-price on their first drink.
