It was a tremendous first season in charge for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, as he led his team to a demolition of the Premier League and comfortably secured the title once again for the Blues.Â
Following a miserable year previously, Conte managed to turn things right around at the Bridge, much to the delight of the Chelsea fans here in the Tavern, who have spent much of the season on a high.
Our landlord though thinks that with Champions League football back on the agenda next season, that the club need to add one or two new faces to the squad during the summer, and the Blues fans here at the bar in the Tavern tend to agree.
One player who we think could be a good signing for the Blues is current Real Madrid and France strike ace Karim Benzema. With Chelsea needing genuinely world class players, Benzema safely fits that mould.
His goalscoring exploits for Madrid over the past five seasons or so have been superb, and he is a real class act when it comes to leading the line for Los Blancos.
Should Conte want a new striker, and with Diego Costa’s future still well and truly up in the air, then Benzema could well be the ideal man to turn to in order to guide the club to European success next season.
