Chelsea: Fans drool over Ashley Cole as the left-back returns to Stamford Bridge as a coach

Share

Ashley Cole has returned to Chelsea as a coach, five years after leaving the club, per Sky Sports.

The former England international has taken up a position working with the club’s Under-15s, having officially announced his retirement from playing in September following a hugely successful career playing for the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League.

Cole won the Premier League, the Champions League, the Europa League and four FA Cups (per Transfermarkt) playing for the Blues between the years of 2006-2014, and now hopes to imitate the success enjoyed by his former teammate Frank Lampard, who is currently in charge of the first team.

“You have to be a top player to play for Chelsea so they want those top ex-players influencing and trying to help the next generation develop and be better players,” said Cole, speaking of his appointment to Sky Sports.

The 38-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in Premier League history, and certainly among the best that Chelsea have ever seen in that position, with his return to Cobham greatly received by the Blues faithful; as shown by these Tweets below:
