Chelsea’s season has been something of a balancing act.
While they remain in contention for a Champions League place and have reached the FA Cup semi-finals, inconsistency continues to undermine their progress.
The mid-season managerial change — with Liam Rosenior replacing Enzo Maresca — has brought some positives, but performances have still fluctuated.
As a result, this summer is expected to be pivotal for the Blues, with reinforcements needed across several areas. Strengthening the defence is firmly on the agenda, and one familiar name has now emerged as a potential target.
Chelsea Keen to Re-Sign Lewis Hall
Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Newcastle United full-back Lewis Hall as they consider a move to bring their former academy product back to Stamford Bridge, according to Caught Offside.
The 20-year-old has developed rapidly since leaving Chelsea, establishing himself as one of the most promising young defenders in the Premier League.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with a host of elite clubs — including Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid — all monitoring his situation.
Chelsea, however, retain a strong interest given their history with the player. Hall came through the club’s academy and was handed his senior debut by Thomas Tuchel, who described him as “quality.” Since then, he has gone from strength to strength, impressing with his composure in possession, attacking instincts and tactical maturity.
Despite the growing interest, Newcastle are determined to keep hold of him. The club view Hall as a key part of their long-term project and are in a strong contractual position, meaning any potential suitor would need to submit a significant offer to even begin negotiations.
