Disappointment is not the word here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by 101 Great Goals that Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao is set to finalise his surprise move to Ligue 1 newcomers Monaco today.
The long-time Chelsea target has been in world class form this season and at one point did look like sealing a switch to the Blues meaning that we in the Premier League would have had the pleasure of watching the Colombian forward week in, week out.
Manager elect Jose Mourinho felt that he had beaten off competition from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid for the forward yet now a late swoop from Monaco could well have derailed all of that. The forward is set to seal a 60 million euro switch to the Stade Louis II as the summer draws closer.
Monaco have also been linked with another big money move for Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany and look like spending serious money this summer in their bid to become one of the top clubs in Europe again. Chelsea meanwhile now have to turn their attentions elsewhere in their hunt for another forward with Andre Schurrle thought to be close to be joining the ranks at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fans. How disappointed are you to have seemingly missed out on Falcao? Let us know your thoughts below.
