Manchester City owners City Football Group (CFG) could be set to announce their acquisition of Brazilian club Bahia in a matter of days, according to reports.

The Lowdown: CFG expanding portfolio…

In addition to residing over the Premier League champions, CFG are ever expanding their global portfolio of football clubs under the Sky Blue umbrella.

They currently hold majority ownership over 11 clubs in total – Man City, New York City FC, Melbourne City, Yokohama F. Marinos, Montevideo City Torque, Girona, Sichuan Jiuniu, Mumbai City FC, SK Lommel, Troyes and Palermo.

Adding Bahia to this growing list would being the portfolio to 12 clubs under CFG’s ownership, and it appears there has been a significant development on the latest of these.

The Latest: Imminent Bahia announcement…

According to Football Insider, CFG could ‘announce the acquisition’ of Brazilian outfit Bahia on Saturday, with the statement potentially coming in a matter of days.

Bahia chiefs will apparently meet on December 3 to hold a vote on whether to approve the 90% sale of the club to CFG, but the vote is expected to swing in their favour.

As such, it is claimed that both parties have drafted statements in anticipation of confirming the full takeover, which is estimated to cost around £114m.

First up in this Man City World Cup quiz, how many City players are in England’s squad for Qatar 2022?

The Verdict: Impressive…

Adding yet another club to CFG’s empire could only benefit Man City, as they could soon have another reaching point to grow and nurture talent across the globe.

As we’ve seen with clubs like Girona and New York City, former Sky Blue talents like Angelino have benefitted greatly from honing their skills abroad with Man City’s sister clubs.

Bahia will likely be yet another option in this regard and yet another brilliant outlet for the Premier League champions.
