As if the 4-0 loss wasn’t enough, key defender Eric Bailly is expected to be ruled out for a number of months after picking up knee ligament damage yesterday.
Since signing from Villarreal over the course of the summer, the Ivory Coast international has been a revelation at the back after previously being a relative unknown.
He was replaced by Marcos Rojo barely 10 minutes into the second-half and has been a relative ever-present next to one of Daley Blind or Chris Smalling throughout the season.
“He is injured, I am afraid he is badly injured”, said Mourinho.
“In his knee, in the ligament area, he feels that it is really bad.”
