Crisis at Manchester United and Liverpool, Plus Owen Coyle Leaving Burnley for Dead – The Best of Football FanCast

David Schiavone 17 January 2010, 19:30 2 minutes read

Its never a dull week in the Premier League and on Football FanCast debates have been raging. Liverpool were knocked out the F.A Cup this week by lowly Reading, as a result the call for Rafa to be sacked grows. Their rivals Manchester United haven’t had a better time of it recently and it appears all is not right at Old Trafford, while Owen Coyle has left Burnley to join Bolton, Keiron Dyer could well be leaving the game for good.

The highlights this week include:

Is the situation at Manchester United really that bad? Or have the media built up a crisis that has been there far longer? Here is Kevin Watson’s view, United fans have got to STOP taking the negative bait.

As a result of the recent financial revelations the future of Wayne Rooney has come under increasing speculation, but what kind of impact will this have at Manchester United?

Rafa Benitez is under increasing pressure as Liverpool continue on a downward spiral, is it time for him to leave Anfield?

Or is he to blame at all? Should the board take the brunt of all the fans anger, thus keeping the Spaniard in a job?

An Open letter to Liverpool Fans

Portsmouth are urged not to give into the ways of Harry Redknapp and keep their squad together despite all the money worries at Fratton Park.

Keiron Dyer looks likely to end his career shortly, after a series of injuries have hampered his ability to gain match fitness, a sad end to a gifted footballers career.

As people tout any number of footballers for the England right midfield slot, should David Beckham be guaranteed a seat on the plane to South Africa?

With Gareth Barry’s departure to Manchester City, Aston Villa had a massive hole in their side after losing the club captain. But riding high this season and looking odds on for a Carling Cup final spot, do they actually miss him?

Owen Coyle has left Burnley and Brian Laws appointed as the man to keep them in the league, but will this be a task too far for the former Sheffield Wednesday manager?
