Crystal Palace manager has been quoted by The Croydon Advertiser, saying that he is not too worried by his team’s lack of any clean-sheets this season.
He may not be, but our resident Eagles fans here in the Transfer Tavern would rather they picked things up soon, particularly in the defensive aspects of their game.
It’s only the visit of the in-form Liverpool this weekend after all.
The Reds have been free-flowing in their scoring this season and sit level on points at the top of the table, though Pardew is not worried by the Eagles at the back.
Despite the arrivals of James Tomkins and Steve Mandanda to shore up the rearguard over the course of the summer, the south London outfit have been unable to completely shut out the opposition it seems.
“All managers have a concern about not keeping clean sheet because you don’t want the opposition to score”, explained the former Newcastle boss.
”Having said that, that’s seven games we’ve only conceded one goal. It’s a little concentration to get us over the line to get a clean sheet, but we’re an attacking side.”
For Pardew, then, it seems that attack very much is the best form of defence ahead of their latest game at Selhurst Park.
The Eagles have lost their last two games to West Ham and Leicester City respectively whilst Liverpool come into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over West Brom.
