Crystal Palace: Matt Woosnam drops Nathan Ferguson update

Crystal Palace defender Nathan Ferguson could be sidelined for six weeks following a fresh injury blow, Matt Woosnam reports.
The Lowdown: One appearance in 18 months
Ferguson signed for the Eagles back in July 2020 when Roy Hodgson was in charge at Selhurst Park.
How would you rate Palace's transfer window?
It was alright!

We needed more!

However, due to hamstring and Achilles issues, the defender failed to make an appearance under Hodgson in the 2020/21 campaign.
He was 19 years of age when he made the move to Palace and 21 when he made his debut, coming off the bench in a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham back in December.
Unfortunately, Ferguson missed the recent FA Cup win over Hartlepool due to a new hamstring injury, and it seems as if he may not return until April.
The Latest: Woosnam’s post
Woosnam took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to share an update on Ferguson.
He revealed that the defender, labelled as ‘quality’ by former West Brom boss Slaven Bilic, could miss the next six weeks after picking up an injury in a recent friendly.
“Fears that Nathan Ferguson could be out for a further six weeks with a hamstring injury picked up in a behind closed doors friendly, The Athletic understands. Latest cruel blow for the young defender who has played only eight senior minutes for CPFC.”
The Verdict: Devastating
Ferguson can’t seem to catch a break as a Palace player, and this latest issue may end up keeping him out for the majority of the second half of the season.
As Woosnam claims, it’s a cruel blow for the defender, who will actually be entering the last 12 months of his contract in the summer without ever really even featuring for the first-team.
You’d expect that Palace may have their concerns over Ferguson’s injury history, so it will be interesting to know their stance on a possible new deal for the defender ahead of the 2022/23 season.
