Kenny Dalglish has found the man to bring success back to Liverpool.
He captained Holland to the World Cup final in 2010 and he looks to be the ideal replacement for Javier Mascherano who left in the Summer.
Mark Van Bommel is of course the player I’m talking about. He has probably more experience at playing in the big games than any other player around. He’s a natural born leader who holds the midfield together. His presence will allow Steven Gerrard to go and express himself and play further up the pitch too.
Roy Hodgson tried bringing Christian Poulsen in to play that role but he’s been a major flop and players like Lucas just aren’t up to it.
Van Bommel may be getting on now at the age of 33 but you cannot question his ability and desire to win football matches. That is something Liverpool are so desperate for right now. They can ill afford to look at Gerrard and Fernando Torres to bail them out all the time as it’s impossible.
They need several players to come into the team but if you have Pepe Reina, Van Bommel, Raul Meireles, Gerrard, Torres and a top class centre back in your team, that is a terrific spine, as good as any team around.
The man currently playing at Bayern Munich could be the start of a Liverpool revival but I stress it will just be the start as they clearly have problems which ‘King Kenny’ is currently looking to address.

Yeah FSG will buy a 33 year old! Do you know anything about their strategy? Obviously not.
Cannot see LFC buying a 33 year old.Pointless.
Why would be want van Bommel? Lucas is by now a better central midfield player than the Dutchman and a 33-year old in a holding midfield role may find it tough-going in the fast-paced English game. Dalglish likes to play with three players in central midfield, one in a pure holding role and the other two with licence to roam forward (with one occupying a position potentially similar to the classical trequartista or attacking midfielder). Lucas, Meireles and Gerrard all fit better in the more advanced positions, while Dalglish seems to view Poulsen and Spearing as more appropriate for a holding role. Maybe we should try to tempt the Monster back to Anfield – he is not getting much playing time with Barça anyway…
Apologies for the spelling, the paragraph should start “Why would we want van Bommel?”
not welcome
u all don,t know your football remember mcallister he was 33 when liverpool signed him same has van bommel what a buy he was 6 trophies he won experince he brought same with van bommel yes short term but thats what we need
Steve, your spot on! He is exactly what our midfield needs. Without Stevie or Carra we lack leadership. Van Bommel is just the man to be the holding midfielder allowing the quality of Stevie and Raul to push forward. Also how much would the improving Lucus learn from him!!!
we will see a lots of red card soon wiv van bommel its nt good inuf
You really need to check your footy knowledge this guy man be 33 but there isnt a big game he hasnt played in and that experience you cant put a price on!!
Will be excellent addition and can only assist the progress of lucas, shelvey, spearing etc.
People learn your stuff and dont doubt Kenny he knows alot more that all of you put together!
hope he is free !! but would love to see him
we don’t want him Lucas is far much better and younger
