David Unsworth wants Matthew Pennington and Ben Baningime to leave Everton on loan in the January transfer window, per Liverpool Echo.
Speaking to the news outlet, the Toffees’ under-23 manager talked about the possibility of both players going out on loan in a couple of months and also lauded their attitudes since the summer transfer window shut. He said:
“Hopefully in January these boys will go out on loan. We want them to go out on loan. The club, Marcel, myself, it’s not easy to loan young players but we will give them the platform [in the u-23s] to try and impress every week.
“Absolutely outstanding. They are great pros. We would rather they had gone out on loan but it’s not easy.”
Pennington’s game-time limited at Everton
Indeed, Pennington’s game time at the Merseyside club has been very limited, with a paltry nine matches played in all competitions for the first team since the start of 2015/16 (Transfermarkt).

Primarily a central defender, the 26-year old may have to go out on loan in January if he has intentions on breaking into the first team under Carlo Ancelotti.
With the likes of Ben Godfrey, Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina currently as options at centre-back for the Italian, Pennington seems to be nowhere near getting into the manager’s plans.
Baningime’s Blackpool move collapsed
Baningime’s loan move to Blackpool collapsed in the summer transfer window, so he remains with the Toffees. Indeed, similar to Pennington, the DR Congo man’s game-time at the Blues has been very limited, with just 12 appearances over all competitions for the club since the beginning of the 2017/18 season (Transfermarkt).

At 22 years of age, Baningime should be looking to leave Everton on loan in the January transfer window, with one eye on possibly moving away from Goodison Park on a permanent deal in the summer.
