With Celtic looking so strong in the league right now, the fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been talking about what may happen in January. 

It would obviously take a slip-up never seen before to prevent another SPFL title finding its way back to Parkhead at the end of the season, though the New Year sales can really provide a chance to build for next season.

While Brendan Rodgers is constructing what appears to be a long-term project in Glasgow, further shaping the squad with the upcoming campaign in mind would be a wise move. Becoming increasingly competitive in the Champions League next year simply has to be a priority in green and white.

Clearly, improving the squad to such a level is likely to take a few transfer windows, though bringing in players to bed in ahead of next season would stand them in good stead for next term.

With that in mind, here’s the business Celtic should still conduct in January.

IN: Bojan

The Stoke City forward would bring another element of glamour to the Bhoys’ ranks as his time in the Potteries seemingly winds down.

A wonderfully gifted technician, he’d be adored by the Parkhead faithful and certainly has quite a pedigree in the game. The notion of him operating behind the likes of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair is a mouth-watering one and certainly an arrival to get the fans excited.

OUT: Kris Commons

A loan move to Hibs couldn’t be extended, though there have been recent suggestions Aberdeen could make a move for the 33-year-old attacker. While allowing him to leave and join a rival sounds rather silly, the midfielder has been a great servant to the Bhoys and should be allowed to play football.

Clearly has no future under Rodgers.

Efe Ambrose

Another Celtic stalwart, Efe Ambrose isn’t as popular amongst our punters as the aforementioned Commons. Still, the Nigerian quite clearly doesn’t have a future in Glasgow, having not played since July.

The club have moved on, and so should the 28-year-old.
