Sporting Lisbon defender Paulo Oliveira has welcomed reported interest from the Red Devils, who are linked with the player as a replacement for the injured Luke Shaw.
The 23-year-old has been excelling in the Portuguese league this season, helping his side secure an unbeaten start to the campaign.
Portuguese international Oliveira was asked about United’s interest by Antena 1 and revealed he is pleased to discuss a possible transfer, opening the door for Louis Van Gaal’s side to make a swoop in the New Year.
“It’s a good sign. I do not know about the facts but above all, it’s good to know that your work is being assessed. I have to continue to work harder and not fall asleep.”
