Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited by the emergence of new links in their pursuit of a long-term target, which seem to indicate a transfer could finally be completed.
Arsenal are long-term admirers of Sporting Lisbon ace William Carvalho but saw any hopes of a summer transfer dashed when the Portuguese midfielder was ruled-out for three months with a stress fracture in his leg.
However, Carvalho returned in late September and has made three appearances since- but crucially stated his desire to play for Arsenal when speaking to A Bola.
“I prefer not to say too much, but there is a club with which I’ve always been fond of: Arsenal. Because of Thierry Henry, a player with whom I have always enjoyed watching.”
“Maybe this is why I look with so much affection to the Premier League.”
Arsene Wenger is said to have launched bids of more than £20m in the past but the Arsenal fans by the jukebox are hoping that these comments are what finally pushes a deal for Carvalho over the line.
