‘Destroyed his City legacy’ – Man City fans on Twitter vent anger over big rumour

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting more and more frustrated with Yaya Toure. According to The Daily Mail, the Ivorian is in talks with West Ham as he wants a reunion with former City boss, Manuel Pellegrini, although the City fans are sick of hearing about the midfielder as they’re of the opinion that he’s disgraced himself with his comments about Pep Guardiola.

Yaya Toure spent an incredible eight seasons with Manchester City, with a quarter of his time in Manchester spent under Guardiola, however, after leaving the club in May he lashed out at his former coach in an interview with France football, via The Guardian, where he claimed the Spanish manager has a problem with African players but is “too intelligent to be caught out” with many of Guardiola’s players, past and present, coming to defend the gaffer.

The Yaya news today is much less aggressive, as there are reports that the midfielder could be on his way to West Ham. The 35-year-old would need to take a significant pay cut to join up with his former boss at The London Stadium, with his City deal having him on £220,00 per week, according to the story in The Mail. Whilst his wage could be an issue, it’s thought that Toure really wants the move to The Hammers, and the West Ham fans aren’t about to stop him from joining.

The City fans thought they’d always have a place in their heart for Yaya Toure, although his behaviour and lack of professionalism have destroyed his status as a legend at the club, undoing eight years of hard work in a matter of weeks.
