Few would doubt the fact that the Newcastle United fans, especially those in the Transfer Tavern, absolutely adore Rafa Benitez.
Indeed, the Spaniard seems to feel the same about the club’s supporters. It’s just the relationship between the 57-year-old and those behind the scenes at St. James’ Park that seems to be strained.
Toon fans have had to deal with reports suggesting Benitez is unhappy on Tyneside since the January transfer window and recent comments from Jamie Carragher have only increased the levels of scare-mongering in regards to his future.
So, a story in the Times suggesting Newcastle were looking to offer the former Liverpool and Real Madrid coach a new contract have split opinion. While, obviously, it’s very good news, not many of our drinkers clad in black and white are confident about it.
Such is the scepticism, one particular line within the report claiming Mike Ashley had invited Benitez out for dinner has been picked on most by supporters online.
Having said that, here’s a look at how fans reacted to the thought of the Sports Direct mogul taking Rafa out for dinner…
He'll promise a gourmet dinner and end up buying a Happy Meal.

Remember when Ashley gave Pardew an 8-year contract that’s the sort of contract Rafa should be offered at #NUFC
