The Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a big summer. Indeed, while life under Mike Ashley during transfer windows has never proven an easy process, our punters clad in black and white would love to see Rafa Benitez backed when it comes to buying players.
Still, as much as our resident Geordies are eager for new arrivals, keeping the key men who helped ensure a solid showing in the Premier League this time around is undoubtedly equally as crucial. One of them, a certain Jamaal Lascelles, has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool, so the Newcastle fans propping up our bar are praying he stays.
With that in mind, you can imagine the reaction of fans online following his message to supporters on Twitter. The former Nottingham Forest man was awarded the club’s Player of the Season award and took to social media to thank everyone involved in helping him get there.
