Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are reflecting on what was an intriguing window for them this summer as their club looked to set their promotion stall out.
Indeed, there was certainly some headlines with the likes of John Terry arriving earlier in the summer but some fans may feel that the club could have done a bit more in the window to really make a statement.
It does seem, though, the club may have had to balance the books throughout the window and that certainly would have had an impact on really trying to blow people out of the water with their spending.
Some fans, though, think that might be a poor excuse and Dr. Tony Xia has got wind of such suggestions with a pretty passionate response on Twitter:
Ppl said us using FFP as excuses, b***t!Even we did well2balance,still not far from the red line.Though we did well this window.#UTV

Fans, then, have reacted to this and so, with that in mind, here is the best of the response:
People digging him out for signing McCormack. All he did was back his manager and we all thought he’d be a good signing at this level

If we get in Schlupp on lian or whatever, to cover left back and left wing, and if we get Wilshere on loan, we will get promoted. Simple

Can you submit a £50 mil bid for Aguero just to see the faces of the SkySports pundits? Obviously he won’t come but it would be hilarious

Any villa fans saying anything other than the Dr is doing a stunning job of running our club, really needs to think about 2 years ago.

Doesn’t matter how much we spend as long as we go up and have the squad to do so
