According to Le Parisien, Arsenal are in the hunt for Wolfsburg midfielder Julian Draxler. The publication are reporting that a host of clubs are keen, including the likes of PSG, but Arsenal have reportedly been tracking the German since the summer – and so their interest is clear for all to see.
With the German looking likely to leave the club at the end of the season, Wenger is clearly in the mix – but could any other clubs come calling?
The Chelsea fans in the Tavern have been listening in on the rumours, and whilst the Blues have not been linked – the Chelsea punters certainly think that Conte should make a move.
They think that Draxler would be perfect for Chelsea, and with Oscar reportedly on the move – they think Draxler could be the perfect replacement.
With that said, Draxler has been linked to Arsenal, but here are 2 reasons why Chelsea should try and hijack the deal…
Cost Effective
If the report by Le Parisien is to be believed, Julian Draxler could be available for just €25 million – which would be an absoloute steal.
Let’s not forget how good Draxler is. He is quick, he is technical, he is a hard worker – he really has it all. He is the perfect winger.
Not to mention he is just 23-years-old – meaning that he could remain with the Blues for the best part of a decade.
When you consider that Chelsea are reportedly receiving £60 million for Oscar, who is a couple of years his senior and arguably worse than the German – this deal begins to look like a real steal.
Depth
With Oscar reportedly leaving and Fabregas’ future looking uncertain alongside a general lack of offensive depth – it is clear that Chelsea need to head into the market and invest in an attacking midfielder or 2. Julian Draxler fits the bill perfectly.
The cost is obviously a bonus, but in the context of Chelsea’s transfer needs – the deal just makes a lot of sense.
Draxler is exactly what Chelsea need right now – and he is available. Where else could you get a World Cup winner in a position you need for such a small fee?
