The Everton supporters here in the Transfer Tavern were somewhat disappointed with their team’s efforts in the 3-2 reverse at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, with the result leaving their hopes of securing European football taking a severe blow.

The Toffees’ faithful spent several hours following the defeat drowning their sorrows and the landlord had to step in among a group of supporters who were getting a little hot-headed with each other at one point.

Ronald Koeman will look towards today’s game with West Bromwich Albion as the perfect opportunity for his side to get their season back on track and get back on the quest towards a top six finish.

Following last weekend’s disappointing result, several of the Everton faithful in the Tavern are hopeful that their team can get back on track with a positive result this afternoon.

Joel Robles

The Everton goalkeeper has deputised for Maarten Stekelenburg in recent weeks but this afternoon could be the perfect opportunity for the Dutchman to return to the first-team.

Robles has done okay in the Holland keeper’s absence but the time must now be right to reinstate the club’s first choice custodian.

One Everton supporter is sat with a latte here in the Tavern and he agrees that the Dutch stopper is better than Robles, stating that it can only be a positive if Koeman opts to make a change.

Gareth Barry

The Toffees veteran was withdrawn in the second half at White Hart Lane and there is a real possibility that he could start on the bench for the club this weekend.

Barry has been a great servant for the Toffees down the years but given his age the management must pick his games carefully and he could be saved for future challenges.
