The Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been pretty content with their team’s campaign, although there is a real sense that next season will be the biggest test for Spanish boss Pep Guardiola who will be desperate to secure the title.

The Citizens are way behind leaders Chelsea and a massive clear-out looks set to be on the cards in the summer, with Guardiola also likely to oversee an influx of incoming talent.

A couple of City fans are getting stuck into an early morning all-day breakfast here in the Tavern and they are in good spirits ahead of today’s game with Southampton, which represents a big chance to consolidate a place in the top four of the Barclays Premier League.

Our landlord has overheard the City fans’ discussions and he looks at two players who could be dropped from the starting line-up today.

The central midfielder scored for Manchester City last weekend although he could find himself back on the fringes for this weekend’s game against the Saints.

One City fan is sat chilling with the newspaper and a pint here in the Tavern and he states that the ex-Aston Villa man has done okay of late, but does concede that he remains unconvinced that he is one of Pep’s first choice midfielders.

Jesus Navas

The Spaniard played in a rather unfamiliar right-back berth last weekend and he looks set to be dropped from the side this weekend, with Pep likely to call upon a more natural defender to thwart the threat of Southampton.

One City fan is having a cigarette in the Tavern’s beer garden and he thinks that Navas is unlikely to remain at City much longer, stating that he could make way in the summer for a better player to come in.
