Drop them: Koeman must axe these 2 players from today’s starting Everton XI against Liverpool

It’s the biggest weekend of the season on Merseyside this week, as Everton take on local rivals Liverpool in what promises to be a massive game.

Ronald Koeman will be keen to get one over on Jurgen Klopp after losing out to a later winner back in December in the return fixture at Goodison Park.

The Everton fans here in the Tavern though are in a good mood though heading into the game at Anfield, and confidence seems high that they could well get a positive result.

Our landlord has been chatting with some of their fans over by the pool table, and despite the good mood, they think that Koeman could well look to axe a few players to ensure a good result is achieved today.

With this in mind, here are TWO Everton players who should be dropped from today’s XI against Liverpool…

Tom Davies

Despite the youngster’s excellent form, it might be a game too far to chuck him into the heat of a Merseyside derby so early in his young career.

Koeman could well opt for the experience of Gareth Barry ahead of Davies, although some Everton fans will make the argument that it might well be best to play the fearless Davies and let him off the leash so to speak.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Another youngster who impressed last time out but could find himself taken out of the firing line is Calvert-Lewin.

His rise has been quite surprising considering he only moved from League One Sheffield United in the summer, but Koeman could opt to go with more experience or simply use Lukaku up top on his own.

It will be interesting to see just how much faith the manager does have in his young talents.
