The Manchester United supporters who can regularly be found supping in the Transfer Tavern are mightily concerned that the Red Devils could be forced to experience the embarrassment of another season not playing in the Champions League with Europe’s elite clubs.

Two disappointing home draws with West Bromwich Albion and Everton have left United desperately short on confidence and their two games in hand on their rivals now look like cup finals in context of their campaign.

The Manchester United winger fluffed his lines during Tuesday’s miserable 1-1 draw with Everton and it remains to be seen whether or not he will retain his place in the side for today’s game.

One United fan is getting through the lager at a frantic rate here in the bar and he thinks that Lingard needs to start performing when he is given chances to shine in the team, otherwise he will become another United youngster who has ended up on the scrapheap.

Ashley Young

The United winger has been playing in an unfamiliar wing-back role this season and it simply doesn’t suit him.

He was replaced by Luke Shaw with 25 minutes remaining on Tuesday night and although the ex-Southampton man is coming under fire from his boss, he is still a much better option than Young.

One United fan is puffing away on a e-cigarette and he thinks that Shaw should play a lot more than he currently does, stating that Young is a winger and not a defender.
