Napoli appeared to be are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Tottenham Hotspur over the signing of midfielder Wilson Palacios, until the offer received by Tottenham fell short of the €17M valuation with Napoli offering €10M.
The Honduras international is currently training in the United States in preparation for his nation’s CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign, and revealed that even he is in the dark, waiting to hear news of his future from the London club.
“The coming days will be crucial for my future,” he told La Prensa. “Negotiations are advanced, but I will wait for news from London.”
Despite having reservations about moving to North London from North West England where he was settled, Palacios agreed personal terms on a five-and-a-half year contract with Tottenham Hotspur, committing his future to the club until 2014.The midfielder Palacios from Wigan in January 2009, and the 26-year-old has gone on to make 87 appearances for Harry Redknapp’s side.
However, the emergence of Brazilian midfielder Sandro and has contributed to limiting Palacios’s first-team opportunities this season to a mere 18 games, and Tottenham are prepared to sell to Napoli if they can recoup the £12 million fee they paid for him.
Napoli – who, unlike Tottenham, have qualified for next season’s Champions League – are thought to be offering €10m which surly won’t be enough for Spurs to allow the solid defensive midfielder to leave White Hart Lane.
