The Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern really can’t wait for a trip down to Brighton tomorrow after their recent run of good form.
Indeed, our resident Geordies have been delighted to watch Rafa Benitez’s side storm up the league with four wins on the trot and the punters propping up our bar are keen on the Toon Army making it four in a row.
So, reports from the Chronicle have proven rather interesting. They’ve revealed that Joselu is set to keep his starting place for the trip down to the south coast, despite missing a few good chances during the win over Stoke City.
”We were talking about the chances that the had and the work that he did. Sometimes you can analyse and you can have an opinion about strikers depending on the chances that they have and they take or not”, said Benitez.
“But in this case, we were talking about overall, his work and what he was giving to the team, his contribution, and after the chances.
“The third chance is the one that maybe he could take and we were talking about that, but I think he knows.”
The Spaniard’s signing was far from celebrated earlier in the summer, though the forward has provided the Magpies with a presence up front and looks set to be given the nod over Dwight Gayle once again tomorrow afternoon.
Despite his lack of ruthlessness in front of goal last week, Newcastle do boast a 100% record when starting with the 28-year-old and the punters clad in black and white here are glad he’s reportedly going to spearhead their attack.
Landlord’s Verdict:
While not the most stylish striker in the world, Joselu certainly does provide Newcastle with a physical option up front.
Able to occupy defenders, the goals will come if the Spaniard keeps his cool and continues to get into those positions.
Thoughts?
