Fans from all clubs across England have been coming together in the Transfer Tavern to laugh at Arsenal today. The Gunners apparently (as per Sky Sports) made a late swoop last night to sign Fabinho ahead of Liverpool, although as you can probably guess, they failed miserably and the Brazilian is now a Liverpool player.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that their future transfer dealings under Unai Emery will be smoother, although considering the Spaniard only has a transfer budget of around £70m (according to the Telegraph), it’s unlikely that they’ll be bringing any of Europe’s greatest players to The Emirates this season. The former PSG boss will need to be coy in the market and may have to look towards the Eredivisie or the Primeira Liga to find some bargains in the next couple of months.
Ironically, Fabinho would have been perfect at Arsenal. The versatile defensive midfielder has been of the best defensive midfielder’s in the world over the last couple of years, and his ability to slot in at both right-back and centre-back when required. His sturdiness in defence and tactical awareness to read the game would have made him a key asset for Emery, as the Brazilian presents himself as everything that Arsenal fans thought that Granit Xhaka would be.
You can see what the fans’ jibes at Arsenal here:
