Aston Villa fans have heaped praise on goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez after a recent interview with The Independent.
The 28-year-old recently made the switch from Arsenal for £17m after the Argentinian shot-stopper impressed during last season’s FA Cup final and the Community Shield affair.

Martinez had trouble breaking into the Gunners’ first-team and getting regular playing time in north London, making just 38 appearances in 10 years and several loan spells, as per TransferMarkt.
Villa’s number 26 told The Independent that he followed his instincts by joining the club, rejecting offers from a lot of clubs. He even says he told his wife he feels in love with football again after his man of the match performance and penalty save on his debut against Sheffield United.

Understandably, this attracted a wave of positive messages from the Villa Park faithful on social media as he continues to settle into his new surroundings in unfamiliar territory, with one supporter hailing him as an “absolute legend”.
