Ademola Lookman has completed his move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for an undisclosed fee, as confirmed by Everton on their official website.

He joined from Charlton Athletic in January 2017, though never managed to break into the starting line up as regularly as he would have hoped.

This move should allow the 21-year-old to get more game time, which will be seen as an important part of his development.

Lookman started six games in all competitions, coming on as a substitute 18 times, scoring once and assisting twice – with only three of his starts coming in the Premier League.

The England U21 international’s complete record for Everton stands at 14 starts and 34 substitute appearances, with four goals and two assists.

It didn’t feel as though Lookman was going to be given a significantly greater number of minutes at Everton this upcoming campaign given the attacking options they have, so it is understandable he wanted to move somewhere he would get that.

He went to RB Leipzig on loan for the final half of the 2017/18 campaign, starting seven games and four substitute appearances, scoring five goals and assisting four – with there only being three games during his stay in Germany where he didn’t get on the pitch.

This a good move for Lookman and the development of his career, as he should be able to get regular minutes for a Champions League side from one of Europe’s biggest leagues given the fact he clearly impressed enough to be brought back.

At the same time, it isn’t a bad deal for Everton, as they have offloaded somebody who likely wouldn’t have featured too much this season, which could allow them to make other recruitments.
