Everton: Andre Gomes injury update delights Toffees supporters ahead of weekend Arsenal trip

According to a report from Everton’s official website via Twitter, midfielder Andre Gomes played the full 60 minutes of an 11-a-side training game made up of first-team and U23s players – completing the session with no fitness issues.

Gomes, who has been on the sidelines since November after suffering a nasty ankle injury during their 1-1 draw at home to Spurs, appears to be nearing recovery from his knock – with the Portuguese midfielder stretching his legs over a one-hour training match and not suffering from any physical issues.

The 26-year-old has accumulated an impressive 89% pass accuracy in his own half over the games he has played, garnering an 83% success rate all over the pitch, perhaps highlighting how much he has been missed in a Toffees shirt (SofaScore). Compared to teammate Fabian Delph, despite his lesser pass completion, Gomes has registered more shots per game (0.3) and a higher amount of key passes (0.8) on average in fewer minutes, as per WhoScored.com – which could also signal a lack of midfield threat without him in the side.

As a result, many Toffees supporters have lauded the fact he could return soon – find all of their best comments from Twitter down below.
