After coming on for 30 minutes during Everton’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, the club’s official account have now released a montage of midfielder Andre Gomes’ best moments during the brief cameo back from injury, resulting in waves of supporters praising the ‘excellent‘ 26-year-old.
Gomes, who suffered a horror ankle injury back in November during the Toffees’ 1-1 draw with Spurs at Goodison Park, was on the sidelines in recovery for four months until he made his return against Mikel Arteta’s side. Over the half an hour in which he featured, Gomes appeared to pick out some wonderful passes sitting deep while attracting fouls and keeping his composure on the ball.
The Portuguese midfielder also completed 92% of his passes over the minutes he played, completing three out of five long balls to find teammates, as per SofaScore. The club’s media, in recognition of his fine return, have now released a montage of the player’s performance on Twitter.
In response, many Toffees supporters lauded the 26-year-old’s return to action – find all of their best comments down below.
