Carlo Ancelotti has cast doubt as to whether he will play Jordan Pickford for Everton at home to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The England international made a costly error in the Merseyside club’s last game at Goodison Park as he let the ball slip under his body to allow Youri Tielemans to equalise for Leicester City in a match that eventually finished 1-1, after James Rodriguez had originally given the Toffees the lead midway through the first half.

It has left some thoughts as to whether Ancelotti will still put his faith in the goalkeeper going up against Steve Bruce’s side, as the Italian boss told the media: “I don’t know. I have to think about this.”
Everton may be wise to drop Pickford for Olsen
Given that Pickford would be under pressure off of the back of his mistake, and that the Blues have a perfectly capable ‘keeper in Robin Olsen who can come in to replace him, it may be a wise idea to drop the 26-year-old just for this game.

That was one of two errors that he has made already that have led to goals conceded in the top flight so far in the 2020/21 term, and he did not have a great record last season either, with as many as four mistakes made that led to the ball hitting the back of his net.
Thus, it may be a wise idea for Ancelotti to take Pickford, currently valued at £23.4m by Transfermarkt, out of the firing line for the clash against the Magpies.
