Everton supporters have been significantly more upbeat in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their team get back to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 3-1 success over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Sam Allardyce’s men went into their clash with the Eagles off the back of losing 5-1 at the hands of Arsenal in their preceding league encounter, a result which saw them slip just seven points clear of the division’s bottom three. However, the Toffees put greater distance between themselves and the relegation zone on Saturday as goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Oumar Niasse, and Tom Davies securing a comfortable victory for the Merseysiders, with Luka Milivojevic’s late penalty nothing more than a consolation for Roy Hodgson’s well-beaten Palace.
Thus, there have been many delighted Evertonians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping Saturday’s result can be a springboard for a run of form which will completely banish any lingering relegation fears.
In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Toffees fans to get their teeth into, not least recent reports suggesting that the club are preparing to cut their losses by offloading summer signing Michael Keane at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old only made the move to Goodison Park back in August 2017 after a hugely impressive spell at fellow top-flight outfit Burnley, yet hasn’t quite made the grade at Everton so far in what has been an ultimately underwhelming season for the club.
And reports suggest that the Toffees are ready to let the England international leave this summer, in news which has stimulated quite a response from Everton fans on Twitter, many of whom cannot understand the logic in letting him leave so early into his career at the club…
He has played in an unsettling defensive unit. Would be foolish to offload him, he needs a solid defensive partner next to him

This is pointless the lad needs a run in the side and people need to realise he’s an old fashioned style of centre back like jagielka not someone who can come out with the ball like holgate. stand by him and holgate are the centre backs we should be starting

Can’t see us dumping him after a season as he will get better with a decent manager & partner to play alongside

Reading stories of Keane being offloaded in the summer…
Why?
When the lad has played in a flat back 4 recently and had someone capable alongside him he’s played well, tackling and passing as expected.
Give the lad time next to another solid CB and he’s a quality player. #EFC

Not had the best season but has got the potential to be great. Get rid of jags and Williams. Keep him Holgate and see how funes mori gets on

Can’t see it. He’s a good player that as struggled. He will get better and tbh, besides Arsenal, he’s started to play better of late

Stupid decision. Give him time he has playing with different players every week and needs to forge a partnership with a settled back 4 just offload Walsh

Would be insanity to sell him, especially with Williams and Jags more than likely being moved on.
