Everton: Some fans were annoyed at Ancelotti for starting Schneiderlin vs Liverpool

Everton went into the Merseyside derby on Sunday with the hope of building a cup run to end their 24-year wait for a major trophy. Carlo Ancelotti’s intentions were clear with his strong starting line-up which only saw two changes from their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on New Year’s Day, but some fans weren’t pleased with one of those changes.

The new manager chose to bring Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin back into the 11, with the latter partnering Gylfi Sigurdsson in the middle of the pitch. Schneiderlin’s has made nine starts in the Premier League for Everton so far this season and has just returned from injury which left him out of the festive fixtures. His contributions have been rated 6.26/10 so far this season by WhoScored, so it was a big game to bring him back for.

The club posted the starting line-up on Twitter and most fans were pleased with the strength of the side. However, some others chose to focus on the inclusion of Schneiderlin. They weren’t pleased that he was starting and particularly in a midfield containing Sigurdsson too.
